Why I'm Running

Meet Marcie

Putting Alameda's Future First

A Lifetime of Service, A Vision for Alameda

Marcie is an active community participant working to engage and collaborate with residents, businesses, community-based organizations, and government entities to improve and connect people with resources and purpose.

Youth

As a parent with three Alameda Unified School District graduates, Marcie is committed to youth development. Marcie is a social work professional and her first professional experience was working in a residential homelessness program with women, children, and teens that reformed lives and repaired families. Marcie was a City of Alameda employee working with the youth through ACCYF – Alameda, Collaborative for Children, Youth and their Families and the City’s Summer Internship Program.

Social Services

Marcie will prioritize the development and continued support of an effective, cohesive social service network in the city.  Alameda is a small city with many entities addressing homelessness, food insecurity, mental health, physical health, and more that impact Alameda. Alameda is lucky to have a strong network of social services. Marcie will work to continue to strengthen and support City services and nonprofits because together a stronger fabric of compassion, empathy, learning, and assistance to others will make and maintain a healthier community.

Infrastructure

Alameda is in constant flux. People moving to the city do so for obvious reasons – safety, accessibility to San Francisco, Oakland, and surrounding towns, cleanliness, walkability, bikeability, and overall quality of life. Marcie loves taking advantage of living in Alameda by running daily, walking and biking to most island destinations in beautiful weather, and being immersed in views of water and nature. Preparing for a potential disaster and improving the condition of existing infrastructure on the island are priorities that will bring and retain more residents. Relying on the expertise and knowledge of city staff and educating herself and fellow residents of actionable community efforts will be a top priority of Marcie as a council member. Marcie will support infrastructure improvements to keep our island city safe and healthy for our residents into the future.
